CUAF Day
CU Atrial Fibrillation Screening Day (CUAF Day)
The prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) grows with the ageing population. According to a global research, one in every five people aged 65 years or above will develop AF. Based on the screening result of CU CHAMPION’s summer outreach in the past 2 years, it showed that around 7% of the elderly suffering from AF are unaware of their condition and have little knowledge about the disease. As a result, CU CHAMPION co-hosted CUAF Day on May 23 and 30, to provide basic ECG scanning and raise the awareness towards AF among the general public.
On May 23 and 30, 74 CU CHAMPION students volunteered in two public electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring sessions (CUAF Day) on CUHK campus. The volunteers provided basic ECG monitoring, as well as information about atrial fibrillation for 2,190 Hong Kong citizens.
