肺癌是香港癌症頭號殺手，每年新症超過四千宗，死亡人數約三千六百人。吸煙是導致肺癌的最主要原因，約百分之九十男性肺癌患者是煙民，而長期吸食二手煙的人士患肺癌的機會也比沒有吸食二手煙的人士高兩倍以上。
