HPV Project

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) online education project is a campaign collaboratively launched by CU CHAMPION and The Nethersole School of Nursing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. A series of online workshops for local secondary schools on the theme of HPV will be conducted via online communication software. The program aims at increasing the audience's awareness about HPV and promoting the knowledge about HPV vaccination.

The online education sessions will be conducted for 9 local secondary schools, and the target audience is teenage girls aged 14 to 17 and their parents, teaching staff including teachers, school nurses, social workers and administration staff.

113 student volunteers have been recruited from different disciplines including Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Public Health and Biomedical Science. Two volunteer training sessions were held in late August, during which knowledge related to HPV vaccines were highlighted and common misconceptions were clarified.

The training sessions have equipped students with sufficient knowledge and soft skills required for subsequent education activities. They will join professional nurses, doctors and pharmacists in explaining HPV vaccine related information and answering questions from audiences.
